Aerojet's Atlas V Solid Rocket Motor Test Firing Rescheduled SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 10, 2002 -- The final milestone test of Aerojet's Atlas V rocket motor is rescheduled for Wednesday, December 11, 2002. The test marks the third - and final - firing of the Atlas V rocket motor at the Sacramento site. The company is prepared to perform the test fire between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. as warranted by local weather conditions. If conditions prohibit testing on Wednesday, December 11, the test will be rescheduled for Thursday, December 12, pending appropriate conditions. The Company notes appreciation for local media assistance in disbursing information regarding test plans and the impact of weather conditions. Being mindful of the current state of affairs, advanced notice of the test firing serves to alert local residents and businesses, and quell any concerns related to sound or smoke. This test will again produce a loud, steady roar (lasting approximately 95 seconds) that may be heard within a 15-mile radius of Aerojet's facility, located south of Highway 50 at Hazel Avenue. During the test, some vibration may be felt and smoke will rise into the air in areas adjacent to the facility. The Atlas V test is a fixed, stationary test, and not a launch. The test firing marks the last of three qualification motor firings prior to full production and shipment for use on the Atlas V launch vehicle.
