Aerojet to Conduct Solid Rocket Motor Test

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 5, 2004 -- Aerojet will conduct a test of a solid rocket motor the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004. Scheduled for 8 a.m., the test could take place any time during daylight hours as warranted by local weather conditions.

If last minute weather conditions prohibit testing on Wednesday, Oct. 6, the test will be rescheduled for either Thursday, Oct. 7, or Friday, Oct. 8.

The Company is very appreciative of the cooperation of the media in disbursing information on previous similar tests, and would again request advanced notice to the public of this planned test in order to alert local residents and businesses, and quell any concerns related to sound or smoke.

The test will produce a loud, steady sound (lasting approximately 95 seconds) that may be heard within a 15-mile radius of Aerojet’s facility, located south of Highway 50 at Hazel Avenue. During the test, some vibration may be felt and smoke will rise into the air in areas adjacent to the facility.

The solid rocket motor test is a fixed, stationary test, and not a launch. The test is for qualification purposes related to use on a launch vehicle.
