Aerojet Celebrates Successful NASA STS-117 Atlantis Mission
SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, joins NASA in celebrating the June 8 launch of the space shuttle Atlantis STS-117. The Atlantis crew anticipates at least four spacewalks and will spend 13 days on the Space Station performing maintenance and construction operations.
Aerojet has designed and built the two Orbital Maneuvering Engines, 38 Primary thrusters, six Vernier thrusters and seven gas generators aboard each Shuttle mission. Aerojet also refurbishes and manufactures spare parts, replacement thrusters and gas generators.
