Aerojet Rocket Motors Pass Missile Defense Test

Sixth Successful Ballistic Missile Intercept Test Takes Place Over the Pacific

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov 17, 2005 -- Aerojet, a GenCorp Inc. (NYSE: GY) company, successfully demonstrated its MK 72 boost motor and MK 104 second-stage rocket motor in a Missile Defense Agency / Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) test. Aerojet is building the solid rocket motors for the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) under a contract with Raytheon Company. The Aegis BMD system, of which the SM-3 is a part, is designed to intercept and destroy a ballistic missile outside the earth's atmosphere. This was the sixth successful ballistic missile intercept test out of seven tries of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Program.

"The recent test of the SM-3 demonstrated once again Aerojet's leadership in the development and production of solid rocket motors for missile defense applications," said Aerojet President Michael Martin.
